CEA (Commissariat a l’Energie Atomique et aux Energie Alternatives) (FR) is involved in AMBASSADOR through its Technological Research Division. Part of this division, the CEA LITEN (Laboratory of Innovation for New Energy Technologies and Nanomaterials) is a CEA department located for the most part in Grenoble and Chambéry (on the INES site – French National Institute for Solar Energy). It is one of Europe’s newest and most important research centres in the new energy technology field. Involved in 350 research partnership contracts every year, LITEN works hand in hand with French industry. It is one of the CEA laboratories with the most patents – 134 new applications filed in 2009 and a portfolio of 400 international patents. LITEN’s research activities are focused on solar energy, low-energy buildings, future transport applications (hydrogen, fuel cells and batteries), as well as nanomaterials for energy and methods guaranteeing their safe use.

Neurobat AG (CH) is a SME, Swiss high-tech start-up company. It’s domain of activity is R&D, marketing and sales of its unique adaptive, predictive control technologies and products to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry worldwide. The Company has expertise in the design and development of adaptive, predictive controls for HVAC for residential and commercial applications. The company received the Swiss Technology Award 2005 for its HVAC predictive model.

Leclanché GmbH (DE) is a subsidiary of a Swiss company Leclanché SA founded in 1909 in Yverdon-les-Bains. Through the integration of a spin-off from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in 2006 the company developed from being a traditional battery manufacturer to becoming a leading developer and manufacturer of lithium ion batteries in Europe. Leclanché is a leading manufacturer in Europe of large-size lithium ion batteries. Through a unique, licensed separator technology, the core element of lithium ion batteries, Leclanché is capable of manufacturing cells with above-average safety features in an automated production process.

FUNDACION TEKNIKER (ES) was legally formed in 1981 as a non-profit making Foundation, being a renowned Centre of Manufacturing Technologies. Preferential sectors covered include Ancillary Automotive sector, Machine Tool and accessories, Energy, and biotechnology. TEKNIKER is divided into 18 units, those involved in the AMBASSADOR project are: Mechanical Engineering Unit, Automatic Control Unit, Electronics and Communication Unit and Surface Chemistry Unit. Currently Tekniker employs 242 people and has a turnover of 21 M€. The company has been involved in 13 EU projects in the last 3 years.

NTUA (National Technical University of Athens) (EL) is the oldest and most prestigious technical university in Greece with 9 schools and more than 7000 students. Today NTUA employs 1900 persons as academic or administrative staff and more than 2500 researchers. Based on the 2011 Euro Research Ranking Data, NTUA is positioned in the 10th place between educational organisations and in the 9th position on Networking Rank (Reputation). Last year only, it was coordinating or participating in 67 European projects and during the last decade was funded from European Commission 400Μ€. Based on the same statistical data, the Laboratory of Metallurgy (NTUA.LM) is ranking in the 1st position between NTUA Laboratories.

Planair SA (CH) is a Swiss SME established in 1985. ECBrussels (BE) participated in several projects providing direct technical consulting on the European and national legislations in the renewable energy field. Within the OILECO project, co-financed by the European Commission through the Intelligent Energy for Europe Programme, its role is to provide technical information regarding the legal and administrative background in the field of re-use of Used Cooking Oils to produce bio-fuel. Moreover, ECBrussels designed and delivered the Analysis of European Energy Market and Policies, built on the legislative monitoring of the energy sector, the creation of reports on energy trends, studies on EU legislation on energy, analysis of the market evolution.
