“Energy solutions for Smart Cities and Communities”, 22 – 23 October 2013, Brussels

CONCERTO_LOGO_FINAL_V11_338x215On October 22 – 23 2013, CONCERTO conference on Energy solutions for Smart Cities and Communities will take place in Brussels. This event will bring together  participants from cities and communities, industry and other  stakeholders from the EU-28 as well as associated countries of the  European Research Area.  The economic, technological and political  lessons learnt from the 58 demonstration sites of the CONCERTO  initiative will be presented and discussed along with the implications  for the Smart Cities and Communities European Innovation Partnership.

Improving  the energy efficiency of buildings and advancing the implementation of  renewables is key to a secure, affordable energy supply and is also key  to achieving the EU’s energy and climate targets. 58 cities and  communities, from 23 European countries, have worked on role models to  demonstrate smart, district level solutions that improve the energy  efficiency of buildings, and that supply renewable energy from on-site  sources. 22 projects have been co-financed by the European Union in  the CONCERTO initiative since 2005. These projects have paved the way to  the Smart Cities and Communities Innovation Partnership of the European  Union that was launched in 2012.

More information on the conference are available here.

“ECOCITY 2013”, 25 – 27 September 2013, Nantes

25_09_2013-Ecocity1ECOCITY, the World Summit on Sustainable Cities, will be held on September 25 – 27 2013 in Nantes, France.

ECOCITY will take shape over the 3 days with the Summit and the  Exhibition designed as the ideal place to showcase solutions for  sustainable cities and innovation. A new approach, around a collaborative work, will make it possible for all the contributors to co-build the programme.

“ICT for sustainable places” conference, 9 – 11 September 2013, Nice

ICT for sustainable placesThe “ICT for sustainable places” conference will be organised by RESILIENT project and will take place in Nice, France from 9 to 11 September 2013. This event, benefitting from the support of the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP/E2BA), is meant to be an open research forum, offering a key opportunity to manufacturers, service providers, research laboratories, standard development organizations, urban planners, etc. to meet and network, share information, assess outcomes from the most advanced projects, discuss possible synergies, envision possible standards evolution, etc. The event particularly aims at fostering collaborations between FP7 projects involved at the crossroads of ICT, energy and construction, addressing sustainability and energy efficiency at building, district, and city levels. More information on the conference are available here.

“Innovation in Energy Efficiency buildings and districts”, 26 June 2013, Brussels

EUSEWThe Energy Efficient Buildings Association organises an event  on “Innovation in Energy Efficiency buildings and districts for smart  built environment” in the framework of Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW 2013) on 26 June 2013 from  9:00 to 13:00. It will take place at the Committee of the Regions (Rue Belliard 99-101, B-1040 Brussels – room JDE 52).

The key theme of this event is Energy Efficiency specifically focused  on buildings and districts, and the built environment in general. Its  main theme concerns energy efficient technology & innovation  research priorities for the years to come in order to meet 3 major  challenges:

  • Develop systemic, cost-attractive, “geo-clustered” technologies and industrialized solutions for stock renovation.
  • Develop interactive and sustainable buildings for Smart Cities.
  • Ensure quality and performance.
